Yarra Ranges Council  undertakes annual fuel reduction works including the planning and implementation of controlled burns for fuel reduction and ecological rejuvenation.

Ranges Environmental Consulting were engaged to provide Ecological Assessments at Glenburn Valley Reserve Upper Ferntree Gully and Wickhams Reserve, Launching Place in order to guide decision-making, planning, and implementation of these burns.

Consultation with CFA, Council and local community groups contributed to providing background information on the reserves. Ranges Environmental Consulting then conducted site assessments which included a flora survey, habitat hectare assessment, fuel load assessment and recording specialist habitat features.

The Ecological Assessment Report advised on the ecological condition and habitat values of the study area and management responses including appropriate fire regimes, post-burn weed control and erosion management.
